What’s Going on Here
Hi, I’m Edwin Crozier. Welcome to my web-home. I’m so glad you’ve decided to check out what is going on here at GOD’S WAY WORKS.
We live in difficult times. But really, who in earth’s history couldn’t say that? The fact is we live in a troubling world. Therefore, many of us are plagued with fears, doubts, resentments, bitterness, and shame. Some of us are trapped in sins, obsessions, compulsive behaviors, codependencies, and even addictions. Some of us are caught up in the endless pursuit of pleasure, power, money, and fame. We are searching for a connection to make us whole. Many of us even seem to be successful at it. Yet, we are still miserable. Despite our apparent success we are still in a turmoil of overwhelming emotions and wrapped up in guilt and shame on the inside. We are afraid to let anyone else see that. So, we go to church in our nice clothes and plastic faces, but never truly turn to God for the real help He has to offer. Sadly, in this state some of us give up completely on God.
I understand all these emotions because I’ve been there. I am there. I’ve been religious all my life. I’ve been a Christian since I was a teenager. Yet despite getting many of the outward forms right, even to the point of being a preacher, I’ve realized over the past few years I was still trying to go my own way. But, as the proverbialist said, the way that seemed right to me led to death. I couldn’t seem to help myself, let alone help anyone else. Don’t get me wrong. I could preach a great sermon and say right things, but they didn’t seem to really help me grow in Christ.
Over the past few years, I’ve been on a spiritual journey that has truly drawn me closer to God. This journey has caused me to realize how much stress and pressure I have felt because I’ve been trying to do God’s job. I’ve been trying to run my life (and sometimes the lives of others). That isn’t my job. My job is simply to do the next right thing. My job is simply to discover God’s will for my life today and do it. I am by no means perfect at this. However, one thing I can tell you is as I increasingly learn to give my life to God, I am learning that GOD’S WAY WORKS. Paul said the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He wasn’t saying we need to work really hard on these attributes. He was saying when we give control over to God’s Spirit, these are what will start growing in our lives. I can tell you from my personal journey, GOD’S WAY WORKS. When I work God’s way I grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. As I grow in these, I overcome fear, doubt, resentment, bitterness, guilt and shame. I don’t necessarily make lots of money. I don’t necessarily become powerful or influential. But I do gain peace and serenity. I can face the day with my hand in God’s. I can’t wait to see what I’ll learn or be reminded of about God and His way today because I know GOD’S WAY WORKS.
I’d like to invite you on this journey with me. I’m not here as an expert on God’s way sharing with you all that I’ve learned from years of study. Actually, I’m not even here to teach you what I’ve learned today. I’m here as a fellow pilgrim, striving to walk God’s way. I’m here striving to crystallize what I’ve learned in coherent thought. I’m here because writing what I’ve learned helps me grow in God’s way. I’m here because I’d love to hear what you have learned about God’s way as well and how it is working in your life. Perhaps we can help each other on the path.
Here is what I’ll offer.
Monday: GOD’S WAY for our personal, spiritual growth
Tuesday: GOD’S WAY for our family and relationships
Thursday: GOD’S WAY for our congregations
Friday: Good clean fun (after all, I believe God’s way is filled with lots of laughter and joy)
We’ll talk about many things on this blog, but I hope in every post and every day we learn one great message: GOD’S WAY WORKS.
