The other night I was driving my kids to a trunk or treat. Ethan was Batman (read that with a gravelly, gargling marbles stage voice in your head). The part of the costume that was supposed to look like a huge muscular chest kept popping out and Ethan said, “I hate this. It keeps popping out and makes me look fat.” Trina quickly jumped in, “You mean like Daddy!” OUCH!!!

Ethan and Ryan immediately came to my defense.

“Trina!” they cried in unison.

“Dad’s not fat, he’s average,” Ryan said. “You look pretty normal to me, Dad.”

To which Ethan added, “From a distance.”

DOUBLE OUCH!!!!!

“From exactly what distance do I look normal, Ethan?” I asked.

“Well, when you’re preaching, I think you look normal. But up close, you just look fat.”

Now granted, I don’t have a perfect memory. I’m sure I’ve got a few words out of order, but I do not exaggerate. I haven’t edited to make this any more humiliating.

There it is in all its glory.

Then I remembered a documentary my aunt and uncle, Connie and Brian, told me about–“Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.”

It’s a Joe Cross film by Reboot Media about going through a Juice Fast reboot. Check out the trailer above. Watch the documentary. I’m sure you can rent it at a nearby rental place. I watched it on Netflix Instant Play.

Now, here’s my question. Should I do a reboot? I don’t think I could handle the two month juice fast. But what about 10 days?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted just some good clean fun. Check out one of the newest Rhett and Link videos. Link is trying to get a job and needs Rhett to give a him a good reference. But he makes the mistake of asking Rhett to be honest and just be himself. You’ll love it.

There’s a lot of nonsense parading about as Christianity these days. But when you speak out against it, some folks play the tolerance card claiming it does no harm and we need to just let people be. However, the following video, while being completely hilarious to me, demonstrates exactly how dangerous it can be to let some people prance about as representatives of Christianity in general.

These two Australian late night comedians place their laser sights on some of the ridiculousness posing as Christianity today. What really gets my blood boiling is the video is posted by a guy whose screen name is “muslimsince2003.” What does that mean? It means someone who is following Islam saw this as a great lampoon of modern Christianity. Sad.

I don’t know who “muslimsince2003″ is, but I want to assure you that these guys are not representative of real Christianity. They are folks who sadly are trying to profit from Christianity. Peter talks about them in 2 Peter 2:1-3.

This kind of nonsense makes all Christians look bad and provides ammunition for those who would deny Jesus. These kind of teachers need to be exposed and rebuked.

I hope you laugh while watching this video, but I also hope you recognize the danger this kind of nonsense poses. Because while some people are laughing, they are also discounting true Christianity along with this clearly fake version.

No doubt, most churches are doing their dead level best to make their guests feel at home. Perhaps sometimes we make mistakes while trying to do that. Tim Hawkins highlights a big mistake. Check it out and then let’s discuss the best way to make guests feel at home.

I love Crabtree’s advice about simply learning how to read books. So, I thought I’d throw out a recommendation. One of the books that has most helped me in reading in general and in reading the Bible wasn’t specifically about the Bible at all. Check it out. I think it might help you as well.
